PM Modi Hails Successful Launch of India’s First Imaging Satellite into Geostationary Orbit

NEW DELHI, Sep 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the successful launch of EOS-05, describing the achievement as a proud moment for the nation and a significant step forward for India’s space capabilities.
ISRO achieved another major milestone by successfully launching the more than 2,300-kg EOS-05 aboard the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F17) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
The satellite was deployed into its targeted sub geosynchronous transfer orbit around 18 minutes after liftoff, demonstrating the reliability and precision of India’s launch technology.
In a post on X, Modi praised ISRO’s achievement and highlighted the country’s growing technological strength in the space sector. He also noted that the mission reflected India’s progress in innovation, engineering and advanced space capabilities.
The prime minister further underlined the expanding collaboration between ISRO and Indian industry, saying the partnership is helping strengthen the country’s space ecosystem while increasing its capabilities across different areas of the sector.
The mission represents ISRO’s first successful launch of 2026 and adds another important achievement to India’s expanding space programme. The successful deployment of EOS-05 is also expected to enhance the country’s capabilities in satellite based imaging and related applications.
The achievement comes as India continues to expand its presence in the global space sector, with greater participation from domestic industries complementing ISRO’s established expertise in satellite development and launch operations.
