In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said, “My respectful salutations to the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 75th Punyatithi. He devoted his life to uniting the country. The grateful nation can never forget his incomparable contribution to building an undivided and strong India.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Sardar Patel as a symbol of national unity and the architect of a strong India. “Despite numerous challenges, Sardar Sahib unified a fragmented independent India and gave it the firm shape of a strong nation. As the country’s first Home Minister, he dedicated his life to ensuring the security, internal stability, and peace of the nation,” Shah said. He added that Patel’s efforts in revitalising the cooperative movement and empowering women and farmers laid the foundation of a self-reliant India, guided by the principle of ‘Nation First’.

Leaders across India remembered Sardar Patel as the “Iron Man of India” for his decisive role in integrating over 500 princely states into the Indian Union after Independence. As the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, he established the All India Services, including the IAS and IPS, strengthening the nation’s administrative framework and governance.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel passed away on December 15, 1950, at Birla House in Bombay (now Mumbai) following a massive heart attack, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to India’s independence, unity, and nation-building.
