PM Modi Pays Tribute to Bhagat Singh on His 119th Birth Anniversary
Prime Minister recalls the revolutionary's courage and sacrifice, saying his legacy continues to inspire India's youth
NEW DELHI, Sept 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid homage to freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary, recalling his courage and sacrifice during India’s struggle for independence.
In a post on X, Modi said Bhagat Singh’s determination and bravery gave renewed momentum to the freedom movement. He also highlighted the revolutionary’s willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice for the honour of the nation.
“Millions of salutations to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary. With his indomitable courage and valour, he gave a new edge to the freedom movement,” the prime minister said.
Modi said Bhagat Singh’s commitment to sacrificing everything for the country continues to serve as a symbol of courage and remains an inspiration for India’s youth.
Bhagat Singh was executed by the British on March 23, 1931, along with fellow revolutionaries Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar. His role in the freedom struggle and his revolutionary ideas have continued to shape public memory of India’s independence movement.
