PM Modi Praises TDP Workers for Carrying Krishna, Godavari Waters to Varanasi
The motorcycle yatra from Tirupati to Varanasi highlighted the themes of service and good governance while carrying sacred river waters to the holy city.
NEW DELHI, Oct 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and workers for bringing sacred waters from the Krishna and Godavari rivers to Varanasi, describing the gesture as deeply touching.
The waters were transported by TDP workers on motorcycles during the “Seva Sankalp Yatra”, organised to mark Modi completing 25 years as a head of government.
In a post on X, Modi said people from Andhra Pradesh had undertaken the motorcycle journey from Tirupati to Varanasi over the past few days, highlighting the themes of “seva” (service) and “sushasan” (good governance).
He appreciated the organisers for bringing together participants from different sections of society and ensuring their involvement in the yatra.
“I compliment the team of TDP leaders and Karyakartas who organised the Yatra and ensured people from all walks of life participated,” Modi said.
The prime minister has remained at the helm of government since October 7, 2001. He served as Gujarat chief minister for three terms before becoming prime minister after the BJP won the Lok Sabha elections in 2014. He subsequently secured victories in the 2019 and 2024 general elections.
The TDP is an important constituent of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre.
