PM Modi Says LVM-3 Mission Success Reinforces India’s Role in Global Commercial Launch Market
Heavy lift LVM3 places 6.5-tonne BlueBird Block-2 satellite in orbit, strengthens foundation for Gaganyaan and future missions
New Delhi, Dec 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated ISRO for successfully placing the heaviest satellite launched from India into orbit using the LVM3 rocket, marking a major milestone for the country’s space programme.
The LVM3-M6 mission placed the 6.5-tonne BlueBird Block-2 satellite, developed by US based AST SpaceMobile, into a 520 km circular orbit, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in heavy-lift launches.
PM Modi said the mission not only demonstrated India’s reliable heavy-lift launch performance but also strengthened the foundation for future initiatives such as the Gaganyaan mission, while expanding India’s footprint in the global commercial space market.
“A significant stride in India’s space sector. The successful LVM3-M6 launch, placing the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil, marks a proud milestone in India’s space journey,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
He emphasized that the mission reflects India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, congratulating the hardworking scientists and engineers behind the achievement. “Powered by India’s youth, our space programme is becoming more advanced and impactful,” the prime minister added.
“With LVM3 demonstrating dependable heavy-lift capability, we are strengthening the groundwork for future missions, expanding commercial launch services, and deepening global partnerships,” he said, noting that the increased capability is a boost for self-reliance and will benefit coming generations.
