PM Modi Showcases India’s Transformation Across Economy, Technology and Welfare

Prime Minister credits technology-driven governance and targeted welfare programmes for improving lives and advancing the vision of a developed nation.

New Delhi, June 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday underscored the achievements of his government over the past 12 years, asserting that social welfare and empowerment of disadvantaged sections have remained at the centre of policy-making and governance.

Marking the completion of two years of his third consecutive term in office, Modi said the country’s development journey has been shaped by efforts to improve the lives of economically weaker sections and ensure that the benefits of growth reach those who were historically left out of mainstream progress.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister stated that India’s transformation during the past decade has been driven by a commitment to uplift vulnerable communities through targeted initiatives, improved service delivery and greater access to essential facilities.

He highlighted a range of flagship programmes launched during his tenure, including financial assistance schemes, housing projects, sanitation campaigns, healthcare coverage and welfare measures aimed at enhancing living standards across rural and urban areas.

According to Modi, the guiding principle behind these efforts has been the philosophy of Antyodaya the idea of serving the last person in the queue. He said government policies have focused on ensuring that development is not confined to a few regions or sections but reaches every eligible citizen.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the growing role of technology in strengthening public service delivery. He noted that digital governance platforms and direct fund transfers have helped improve transparency while ensuring benefits reach intended recipients without delays or intermediaries.

He said the expansion of digital infrastructure has enabled faster implementation of welfare programmes and reduced inefficiencies that previously affected delivery mechanisms. The integration of technology with governance, he added, has strengthened public confidence in institutions and enhanced accountability.

Over the years, initiatives such as bank account penetration, digital payments, healthcare protection, rural housing and sanitation infrastructure have become key pillars of the government’s social development agenda. Officials have often cited these programmes as examples of efforts to improve quality of life and create opportunities for long-term economic participation.

Modi described the welfare-centric approach as more than a collection of government schemes, calling it a broader movement aimed at empowering citizens and enabling them to become active participants in India’s growth story.

He further linked these initiatives to the vision of building a Viksit Bharat, or developed India, stressing that inclusive growth remains essential for achieving long-term national objectives. The Prime Minister said social empowerment, economic opportunity and efficient governance will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future.

The remarks come as the National Democratic Alliance government completes one year of its current term and 12 years since Modi first assumed office as Prime Minister in May 2014. Since then, his administration has pursued a combination of welfare programmes, infrastructure expansion, digital transformation and economic reforms aimed at accelerating development.

Modi was sworn in for a third consecutive term on June 9, 2024, following the BJP led alliance’s victory in the general elections. His second term began in May 2019 after the party secured another decisive mandate.

As the government enters a new phase of governance, the Prime Minister reiterated that public welfare, transparency and citizen empowerment will remain central to its policy framework, describing them as key foundations for India’s continued progress in the years ahead.
