PM Modi Speaks with Netanyahu, Reaffirms India’s Zero-Tolerance Toward Terror

Leaders discuss West Asia situation, Gaza Peace Plan and deepening India–Israel strategic partnership.

India, Dec 11 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday received a phone call from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia and discussed ways to further strengthen the India–Israel Strategic Partnership.

According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, both leaders reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms. “The two leaders strongly condemned terrorism and reaffirmed their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the PMO said.

India reiterates support for peace efforts in West Asia

PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support for efforts to secure a just and durable peace in the region, including the early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan. The leaders reviewed the regional security landscape, with Modi emphasising India’s consistent stance on stability and dialogue.

Strategic partnership sees continued momentum

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the ongoing progress in the India–Israel Strategic Partnership and agreed to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors. The PMO stated that they “reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening these ties for mutual benefit.”

Netanyahu’s delayed India visits highlighted

The call also comes against the backdrop of multiple postponed visits by Netanyahu this year. The Israeli prime minister had again delayed a planned trip to India last month due to security concerns following the November 10 terror attack in New Delhi. This was the third such cancellation in 2024.
Netanyahu previously postponed visits in September, citing scheduling constraints linked to Israel’s repeat polls, and earlier before the April elections.

The last time Netanyahu visited India was in January 2018, while PM Modi made a historic visit to Israel in 2017, becoming the first Indian prime minister to do so.

Leaders agree to stay in touch

Both Modi and Netanyahu agreed to remain engaged as developments in West Asia continue to unfold and as the two nations work to deepen strategic cooperation.
