PM Modi to Attend National Startup Day, Engage With Startup Ecosystem Leaders

Prime Minister to mark a decade of Startup India, interact with entrepreneurs, and highlight the growth of India’s innovation driven economy.

New Delhi, Jan 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a programme on Friday commemorating a decade of the Startup India initiative and will interact with members of India’s vibrant startup ecosystem.

Launched on January 16, 2016, Startup India aims to nurture innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and facilitate investment-driven growth, with the objective of transforming India into a nation of job creators rather than job seekers.

On the occasion of National Startup Day, select startup representatives will share insights from their entrepreneurial journeys, and the Prime Minister will address the gathering, officials said.

Over the past ten years, Startup India has become a cornerstone of India’s economic and innovation framework. The initiative has strengthened institutional mechanisms, expanded access to capital and mentorship, and fostered an enabling environment for startups to scale across sectors and regions.

India’s startup ecosystem has witnessed unprecedented growth during this period, with over 2,00,000 startups recognised nationwide. These enterprises have become key drivers of employment generation, innovation led economic growth, and the strengthening of domestic value chains across diverse sectors.
