PM Modi to Inaugurate Assam’s New Emergency Landing Facility Today
Prime Minister’s visit includes infrastructure, education, and sustainable transport initiatives to boost development in the Northeast.
Assam, Feb 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Assam on Saturday to inaugurate several key infrastructure, education, and mobility projects, marking a significant boost to development in the region.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to land at 10:30 a.m. at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh, which he described as the first such facility in the Northeast. The ELF is expected to play a critical role in emergency response, enabling rapid deployment of rescue and relief operations during crises.
Later in the day, PM Modi will inaugurate multiple development projects at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati. A major highlight is the launch of the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu over the Brahmaputra River, which will enhance connectivity for residents of Guwahati and surrounding areas while supporting regional economic growth.
Other significant initiatives to be launched include a National Data Centre for the North Eastern Region, aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure, and the introduction of 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme to modernize urban transport and promote sustainable mobility.
Education will also be a focus of the visit, with the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati. The institute is expected to strengthen Assam’s higher education landscape, attract students nationwide, and elevate the state’s profile as an academic hub.
In the latter part of the day, PM Modi will address BJP karyakartas in Guwahati. Reflecting on the achievements of the BJP-NDA government in Assam over the past decade, he expressed confidence that the people of the state would once again support the alliance in upcoming elections.
