Dibrugarh-Moran Advanced Emergency Landing Facility to Boost Strategic Security, Multiple Infrastructure Projects Also to be Launched

Assam, Feb 11 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on Saturday, February 14, for a day-long programme to inaugurate key infrastructure projects, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister will first arrive at Chabua Airbase in Dibrugarh before proceeding to Moran to inaugurate the Advanced Emergency Landing Facility (AELF), the Northeast’s first highway-based landing strip. Constructed on a 4.2 km stretch of National Highway-37 (NH-2), the dual use facility is designed to handle aircraft landings during combat operations or emergencies, significantly strengthening security along the China border.

Sarma said 16 Indian Air Force combat aircraft, including Rafale, Sukhoi, and Tejas jets, will land and take off from the Moran highway facility after the inauguration. Modi will then travel to Guwahati for additional project launches.

“In Guwahati, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Guwahati–North Guwahati bridge over the Brahmaputra River, launch the temporary campus of IIM Guwahati virtually from Lachit Ghat, and dedicate a Hyper Scale Data Centre at Amingaon. He will also flag off 100 EV and CNG buses for Assam,” Sarma said.

The visit will conclude with Modi addressing a massive BJ booth Sanmilani gathering at the Veterinary Field Ground in Khanapara, before departing for New Delhi the same evening.
