Programs Focus on Skill Development, Education, and Entrepreneurship to Empower Young Indians

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a series of youth-focused initiatives worth over Rs 62,000 crore, with a special focus on poll bound Bihar. The programs aim to strengthen education, skill development, and entrepreneurship, preparing the nation’s youth to take the lead in shaping India’s future.

“India is a nation of knowledge and skill. This intellectual strength is our greatest power,” PM Modi said. “With a strong emphasis on skilling and innovation, we are preparing the Yuva Shakti to lead the future.”

The key initiatives announced include:

PM-SETU Scheme: A Rs 60,000 crore centrally sponsored project to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs nationwide under a hub-and-spoke model. The scheme will be industry managed, with global co-financing support from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

Mukhyamantri Nishchay Svyam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana: Nearly five lakh graduates in Bihar will receive Rs 1,000 per month for two years along with free skill training.

Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme: Interest free education loans of up to Rs 4 lakh to ease higher education costs. Over 3.92 lakh students have already benefited from loans totaling more than Rs 7,880 crore.

Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University: A new institution in Bihar offering industry oriented vocational education to create a globally competitive workforce.

Bihar Yuva Ayog: A statutory commission for youth aged 18-45 to channelize and harness their potential.

Additional measures include the establishment of 1,200 vocational skill labs in Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Residential Schools across 34 states, distribution of appointment letters to over 4,000 newly recruited Bihar government employees, and Rs 450 crore in scholarships for 25 lakh students under the Mukhyamantri Balak/Balika Scholarship Scheme.

The initiatives are expected to enhance youth development, provide employment opportunities, and strengthen skill training in Bihar. Launched ahead of the state Assembly elections, these programs may also influence voter sentiment and bolster the NDA’s political prospects.
