PM Modi Unveils Two Landmark Schemes to Transform Indian Agriculture
The new initiatives aim to enhance productivity, promote crop diversification, and make India self reliant in pulse production.
New Delhi, Oct 11 : In a major push to revolutionize India’s agricultural sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched two landmark initiatives the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission — at an event in New Delhi.
Designed to boost productivity, encourage crop diversification, and improve farmers’ income, the schemes mark a pivotal step toward self-reliance in agriculture.
“We are working tirelessly for the welfare of our farmers, livestock herders, and fishermen,” said PM Modi, reaffirming his government’s commitment to transforming rural livelihoods. “These initiatives will not only empower our farmers but also secure the future of our nation.”
The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will target 100 low-productivity districts, with a focus on:
– Enhancing agricultural productivity
– Promoting crop diversification
– Providing better credit and storage infrastructure
Meanwhile, the Pulses Aatmanirbharta Mission aims to make India self-sufficient in pulse production through:
– Increasing yield and productivity
– Expanding cultivation areas
– Strengthening the pulse value chain
“Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission is not just about increasing pulse production; it’s a campaign to empower our future generations,” PM Modi emphasized. “Animal husbandry, fish farming, and beekeeping have already empowered small farmers and landless families,” he added.
The launch of these schemes underscores the government’s goal of doubling farmers’ income and ensuring agricultural self-reliance. Millions of farmers across India are expected to benefit from the initiatives, which promise sustainable growth and enhanced livelihood opportunities in the farming community.
