PM Modi’s Principal Secretary Highlights IIT Dhanbad’s Century-Long Contribution to India’s Development
Dr P K Mishra praises IIT Dhanbad’s 100-year legacy and urges focus on research, innovation, and national growth
New Delhi, Dec 03 ; Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Principal Secretary, Dr P K Mishra, inaugurated the centenary foundation week of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, on Wednesday, underscoring the institute’s pivotal role in India’s development journey toward 2047.
Paying tribute to IIT Dhanbad’s century-long legacy, Dr Mishra lauded its pioneering contributions to mining education and its continued support to major national institutions such as Coal India, ONGC, GSI, CMPDI, and NTPC. “This centenary celebrates how sustained dedication to knowledge drives meaningful social impact,” he said.
Dr Mishra highlighted how the institute’s achievements align with India’s broader developmental goals, including advancements in digital payments, social protection, space exploration, and renewable energy. He emphasized the importance of youth and innovation in driving the nation forward.
He also reflected on the evolution of civil services, praising initiatives like Mission Karmayogi and the iGOT-Karmayogi platform for enhancing capacity building through collaboration, adaptability, and continuous learning.
Looking ahead, Dr Mishra called on IIT Dhanbad to focus on research in climate resilience, critical minerals, advanced manufacturing, and public welfare, while instilling values of humility, teamwork, and ethics among students.
“The next 25 years will determine how knowledge and technology shape a proud, capable, and equitable India,” he added, extending his best wishes to the institute’s faculty, students, and alumni for continued success.
