PM Narendra Modi Launches Sharp Attack on Congress Over Governance Record
Prime Minister highlights BJP’s growing electoral strength while accusing the Karnataka government of being consumed by internal disputes and leadership uncertainty.
BENGALURU, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp political attack on the Congress during a massive BJP workers’ gathering in Bengaluru, alleging that the party had failed to deliver effective governance in Karnataka due to prolonged internal conflicts and power struggles.
Addressing party supporters, Modi said the Congress administration in the state had spent more time managing leadership disputes than addressing public concerns. Referring to the ongoing political friction between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, the Prime Minister claimed uncertainty over power-sharing had weakened governance in Karnataka.
According to Modi, the ruling party remained preoccupied with questions surrounding leadership continuation and possible transitions, leaving developmental priorities sidelined. He accused the Congress of lacking a clear governance vision and said the party’s promises had repeatedly failed to meet public expectations.
Projecting the BJP-led NDA as a stable political force, Modi said the alliance had emerged as a symbol of decisive leadership and development-oriented governance at a time when global uncertainty was affecting many nations. He asserted that recent election outcomes in several states reflected increasing public confidence in the NDA’s policies and leadership model.
The Prime Minister pointed to the NDA’s return to power in Puducherry, BJP’s continued strength in Assam, improved electoral performance in West Bengal and major gains in local body polls in Gujarat as signs of a broader political shift across the country.
Modi also said the changing electoral landscape reflected the aspirations of youth, women, farmers, middle-class families and economically weaker sections who were seeking faster development and solution-based politics instead of corruption and instability.
During his speech, the Prime Minister praised Karnataka’s historic contribution to the BJP’s rise, recalling how the state had supported the party during its early expansion years. He declared that a “saffron sun” was now rising from Bengaluru, symbolising the BJP’s growing political influence nationwide.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from BJP workers and supporters, with party leaders projecting the event as a show of organisational strength ahead of upcoming political battles in the state and across the country.
