PMGSY-I Extended to 2027: Omar Abdullah Hails Centre’s Move to Improve J&K Connectivity
Chief Minister says extended deadline will improve access and development in remote regions
J&K, Apr 02 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has welcomed the Centre’s proposal to extend the timeline of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-I) until March 2027, calling it a timely step for infrastructure growth in the Union Territory.
According to a statement shared by the Chief Minister’s Office on X, Abdullah highlighted that the extended deadline will help accelerate the completion of several pending rural road projects that are vital for the region’s development.
He emphasized that improved road connectivity will bridge gaps in far-flung and underserved areas, enabling residents to access healthcare, education, and other essential services more efficiently. The move is also expected to contribute to economic progress by enhancing mobility and supporting local livelihoods across Jammu and Kashmir.
