Police arrest man for brutal murder of his 9-year-old daughter in J&K
Domestic issues lead to tragic death of 9-year-old girl in Kupwara
03-04-2023 : A man in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been arrested for allegedly suffocating and slitting the throat of his nine-year-old daughter. According to a senior police officer, Mohammad Iqbal Khatana was arrested last week for the killing of his daughter on March 29. Khatana’s relationship with his wife had been strained for the last year, and they frequently quarreled.
On the day of the crime, Khatana had a heated argument with his wife and later took a kitchen knife with the intention of committing suicide. As he was leaving the house on the pretext of getting a punctured tire fixed, his daughter followed him, and he took her in his vehicle. After driving for over an hour, Khatana suffocated Uzma and then slit her throat to place the blame on the occupants of adjacent houses. He then went home and raised a hue and cry with his family members that Uzma was missing, and went with a few others to the Khurhama police post to get a missing report lodged.
