Positive Sign: India’s Active COVID-19 Cases Drop, Recovery Rate at 98.81%

08-06-2023 : India’s battle against the COVID-19 pandemic continues to show positive signs as the number of active cases has decreased to 2,687, according to the updated data from the Union Health Ministry. The country reported 199 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total COVID-19 case tally to 4.49 crore (4,49,92,293).

With two deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 5,31,886. However, it is encouraging to note that the active cases now constitute only 0.01% of the total infections, indicating a significant decline. The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.81%, with a substantial number of 4,44,57,720 individuals having successfully recuperated from the disease.

The case fatality rate remains relatively low at 1.18%, underscoring the effective management of severe cases and the continuous efforts to provide timely medical care and treatment to those affected. The Ministry highlighted that India has administered an impressive 220.66 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine as part of the nationwide vaccination drive, demonstrating the commitment to vaccinate the population and curb the spread of the virus.
