Posters Targeting Wanted Militants Appear in J&K’s Doda as Security Operations Intensify

Poster Campaign Against Wanted Militants Intensifies in Doda

JAMMU, Feb 14: Security forces have stepped up counter terror measures in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district by launching a public outreach initiative seeking information on active militants, including a Pakistani commander of the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, identified as Saifullah.

Under the ongoing Doda anti-terror poster drive, notices carrying photographs and brief details of suspects have been pasted at prominent locations such as Nagri, Dessa, Ganpat Bridge at the Doda entry point, and Thathri. Officials said additional posters are being displayed across other sensitive pockets to widen the information network and encourage community cooperation. Authorities have assured complete confidentiality and protection for informants.

The development comes amid intensified operations across the Jammu region following recent encounters and intelligence inputs indicating the presence of militants in high-altitude forest belts.

In a related operation, security personnel unearthed a hideout in the Chilli forest area of Gandoh on Saturday morning. Eatables and blankets were recovered from the site, suggesting recent movement. Combing operations have since been expanded in adjoining areas.

Officials said the campaign forms part of broader efforts to dismantle militant networks operating in the Chenab Valley, particularly in Doda and neighbouring Kishtwar districts, where attempts have been made in recent years to revive activities in areas once largely cleared of terrorism.

Over the past month, extensive search operations have been underway in the upper reaches of Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri and Poonch districts. Nearly a dozen encounters have been reported, primarily in Kishtwar, Udhampur and Kathua, resulting in the killing of four Pakistani militants linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad and the loss of an army paratrooper.

On February 4, two militants were neutralised in the Ramnagar forest area of Udhampur and another in Chatroo in Kishtwar. Earlier, on January 23, one militant was gunned down in Parhetar in Kathua. An army paratrooper was killed during a gunfight in Chatroo on January 18.

Searches have been further intensified in Thathri and Gandoh after locals reported suspicious movement by individuals believed to have slipped from recent cordon-and-search operations in Kishtwar and moved towards adjoining forested zones.
