Pranavi’s Historic IGPL Mumbai Triumph Over Men Impresses Indian Golf Circle

First Indian woman golfer to win a mixed-field professional event; breakout victory electrifies Indian golf

India, Nov 22 : Pranavi Urs delivered a performance of historic proportions, firing a sensational bogey free 8-under final round to capture the IGPL Invitational Mumbai title at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club  becoming the first Indian woman golfer to win a professional event against men in a mixed field.

Competing in her maiden IGPL event, Pranavi began the final day two shots behind leader   and her partner Karandeep Kochhar, but outplayed the entire field to clinch victory by two strokes, despite Kochhar’s eagle on the last hole.

Former Asian Tour professional and IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, who watched the drama unfold greenside, hailed the landmark win:
“She was so confident and dominant from the turn. This achievement is one for the record books.”

Mundy added that the IGPL always believed a woman pro could beat the country’s best male golfers, noting Pranavi’s triumph as a breakthrough moment for Indian golf.

Pranavi, a former Women’s Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit winner, earned Rs 22,50,000, while Kochhar settled for Rs 15,00,000.
Kochhar said he was thrilled to witness her brilliance:
“She gave us no chance today. A bogey-free eight-under round it was incredible to watch.”

Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) Secretary General Champika Sayal celebrated the milestone, calling it a moment that will inspire a generation:
“Pranavi’s win is a testament to her skill and dedication. Breaking barriers is never easy, and this victory highlights the opportunities created by IGPL for equality in golf.”

Indian golf icons also praised the achievement.
Six-time Asian Tour winner SSP Chawrasia, who returned to watch Pranavi finish, said:
“Her confidence and control were exceptional. A Ladies European Tour win is coming soon.”

Olympian Udayan Mane added that on this day, “no one could have beaten her.”

The IGPL Tour, now in its debut season, concluded its seventh event in Mumbai and will move next to Ahmedabad for two tournaments, including the million-dollar Bharath Classic Golf co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, before heading to Dubai and Colombo for the final stages and the IGPL League.
