Praveen Sood appointed CBI chief, to take charge after May 25
Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood to head country's premier investigative agency
14-05-2023 : The Indian government has appointed Karnataka Director General of Police, Praveen Sood, as the next director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Sood, a 1986-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Karnataka cadre, will serve as CBI director for a period of two years from the date of taking charge after Subodh Kumar Jaiswal completes his tenure on May 25.
The Department of Personnel and Training conveyed the approval of the competent authority for Sood’s appointment in an official order. Sood’s appointment as CBI director is expected to bring stability to the agency, which has faced numerous controversies and changes in leadership in recent years.
