MMLP is also known as dry port. Dry port is a port-like project, where goods from each region are supplied from storage to container. For Jammu and Kashmir, this project is considered to be important for economic reform, job creation, and speed up development. The dry port will significantly improve the connectivity of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country. Companies from India and abroad will come to do business in the state. In this area, movement of goods along with people from the park will also become easier. Due to its proximity to the Delhi Katra Expressway, National Highway, and the railway track, the intelligence sector is being considered suitable for MMLP.
According to less official sources, MMLP not only reduces the logistic costs but also helps in dealing with warehousing expenses, vehicular pollution, and jammed conditions. Facilities of the godown, railway siding, refrigeration house, custom clearance house, yard facility, workshop, petrol pump, truck parking, administrative building, living and eating facilities, etc. are proposed in MMLP.
Such logistics parks are being built in many parts of the country under the Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Program (LEEP). In the recent month, where the work of the country’s first multi-modal logistic park has been started in Assam. On 23 January 2021, the Industry and Mining Department along with Adani Ports and SEZ Limited invested about Rs.50,000 crore in 1450 acres of land at Virochannagar near the automobile hub at Sanand for the country’s largest multi-modal logistics park in Gujarat. The MOU is signed with.

Jammu and Kashmir government’s agreement with Dubai Ports World was signed between Jammu and Kashmir State Government and Dubai Ports World in the year 2018 on the dry port, but after the abolition of Article 370 for industrial investment in the state Indigenous companies have been invited. Recently, more than 45 companies in the state have agreed to come forward for investment.
The proposed multi-model logistics will facilitate the rapid movement of local produce to parks (dry ports), processing centers, and outside markets. This will increase the income of farmers, industrialists, traders, and businessmen. There will be employment opportunities on a large scale. Containers will be sealed in these ports only after scrutiny by creating a dry port. They can then be sent directly for export by rail, road, or airway.
Agriculture, dry fruit, fruits, and other products are exported from the state. After sending goods from the state, the containers are sealed after checking at the port. It takes time, there is a possibility of spoilage of goods. Custom and export-related documents can also be prepared at these dry ports.
