Ayodhya Visit Marks Key Rituals, Highlights Cultural and Constitutional Significance
Ayodhya (UP), Mar 19: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday described major milestones linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple as “golden moments” in India’s history during her visit to Ayodhya, where she also participated in special religious ceremonies.
Addressing a gathering after offering prayers at the temple, the President installed a 150-kg gold-plated ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ as part of the rituals. She highlighted significant events including the bhoomi pujan, pran pratishtha, opening of the Ram Darbar, and the hoisting of the Dharma Dhwaj as defining moments of national importance.
Beginning her speech with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, Murmu described Ayodhya as deeply sacred, noting its unique place in religious traditions and scriptures. She recalled references from the Ramcharitmanas, emphasising that the birthplace of Lord Ram is considered even more revered than heaven.
The President also underlined the connection between Lord Ram’s legacy and the Indian Constitution, pointing to the depiction of his return to Ayodhya featured in the introductory section of Fundamental Rights. She welcomed efforts to raise awareness about this cultural and constitutional linkage.
Extending greetings to devotees in India and abroad, Murmu conveyed her wishes for the upcoming Ram Navami festival, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Ram.
