Preparations Underway for Two-Day Session Marking 25 Years of Uttarakhand’s Formation
Uttarakhand, Oct 22 : The Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly is set to hold a two-day special session on November 3 and 4 to commemorate the state’s 25th foundation day, with President Droupadi Murmu expected to address the gathering. While it remains undecided whether the President will attend in person or deliver her speech online, preparations for the session are in full swing.
Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan confirmed that arrangements for the President’s address are complete. She emphasized that both the treasury and opposition benches will be provided equal opportunities to speak on the state’s achievements over the past 25 years, with opposition members given space to highlight initiatives taken during their tenure.
“The dates for the President’s arrival are yet to be finalized, but a special address is likely. Members will get the chance to discuss Uttarakhand’s accomplishments and future development plans,” Speaker Khanduri said.
The assembly will be decorated in line with the Silver Jubilee theme, with discussions focused on reviewing the state’s developmental journey and planning for the future. Inputs from both government and opposition members are expected to shape policy directions and initiatives for the coming years.
Uttarakhand, formed in 2000 alongside Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, will officially celebrate its 25th anniversary on November 9. The Dhami government’s special session underscores the significance of the milestone and the state’s commitment to inclusive development and reflection on its journey.
