President Murmu to Embark on Three-Day Odisha Visit from Monday
President to inaugurate a university, visit a revered temple and participate in official engagements under extensive security arrangements.
New Delhi, Aug 03 : President Droupadi Murmu is set to begin a three day visit to Odisha on Monday afternoon, during which she will participate in a series of official and religious engagements across Cuttack and Ganjam districts. Authorities have put comprehensive security measures in place to ensure the smooth conduct of her visit.
According to the official schedule, the President will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and proceed to Damapada in Cuttack district, where she will inaugurate the Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj University. After the event, she will return to Bhubaneswar for an overnight stay at Lok Bhavan.
In view of her movement, traffic restrictions have been imposed on key routes in the state capital during the afternoon to facilitate the presidential convoy.
On Tuesday morning, President Murmu will travel by a specially secured train from Bhubaneswar to Berhampur in Ganjam district. Railway authorities have implemented stringent safety measures, including exclusive use of the designated track during the journey. Bhubaneswar and Berhampur railway stations have been placed under heightened surveillance with bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, baggage screening and additional deployment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel.
After arriving in Berhampur, the President will offer prayers at the Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine near the Taptapani hot springs in Sanakhemundi block. She is also scheduled to stay overnight at the Army AD College in Golabandha before returning to Bhubaneswar by train on August 5. From there, she will depart for New Delhi aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft.
Officials said the decision to travel by train was taken in view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of rainfall during the visit.
Odisha Police, working alongside central security agencies, has enforced extensive arrangements across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Ganjam in accordance with the prescribed Blue Book security protocol. Nearly 40 platoons of police personnel and around 150 senior officers have been deployed in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, while SP-rank officers will supervise security at each event venue. Commandos will remain with the President throughout the tour.
In Ganjam district, authorities have declared all venues associated with the President’s visit as no-flying zones. Officials also indicated that Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi are expected to accompany President Murmu during her visit to the Maa Kandhuni Devi temple.
