Prime Minister Modi to Honour Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur in Samastipur

Prime Minister honours the socialist leader’s legacy and interacts with locals ahead of Bihar Assembly elections.

Samastipur, Oct 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay his respects to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, the former Chief Minister of Bihar and prominent socialist leader, during his visit to Samastipur today.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote:

“My respectful salutations to Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur Ji! Today, I will have the good fortune of paying tribute to him in Samastipur.”

During the visit, the Prime Minister will engage with the local community, including an interaction with Thakur’s “family members” around 12:15 pm, followed by a public meeting in Begusarai at 2 pm to seek the blessings of the people of the region.

Expressing confidence in the BJP-NDA’s prospects in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, PM Modi said:

“The enthusiasm and excitement of the people of Bihar the masses indicate that the BJP-NDA is set to achieve a resounding victory in this time’s assembly elections as well.”

Karpoori Thakur is remembered as a champion of social justice, notably for introducing the 26 percent reservation model for backward classes in Bihar. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna for his contributions to social justice and the welfare of the poor.
