Prime Minister Modi’s Spiritual Sojourn: A Day in Uttarakhand

12-10-2023 :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a day-long visit to the spiritually enriched and picturesque state of Uttarakhand, often referred to as ‘Devbhoomi’. His visit began with a profound gesture of reverence as he performed a puja at Parvati Kund in Pithoragarh. This site, celebrated globally for its spiritual significance and pristine natural beauty, provided the Prime Minister with a serene backdrop to seek blessings from the holy Adi-Kailash, an act deeply resonant with the spiritual essence of the region.

During his visit, PM Modi is set to engage with the local community and immerse himself in the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Uttarakhand. The Prime Minister’s schedule includes an interaction with the residents of Gunji village in Pithoragarh district, where he will also have the opportunity to explore an exhibition showcasing local art and artifacts.

Notably, the Prime Minister’s visit encapsulates diverse activities aimed at promoting development and welfare in the state. Among these initiatives is the laying of the foundation stone for numerous projects with an estimated value of around Rs 4200 crore. These projects span various sectors, encompassing rural development, road infrastructure, power generation, irrigation, access to clean drinking water, horticulture, education, healthcare, and disaster management, among others.

Key highlights of these development projects include the construction of 21,398 poly-houses to enhance flower and vegetable production while elevating their quality. Furthermore, a scheme promoting high-density intensive apple orchards is set to fortify the state’s agricultural landscape. Road infrastructure upgrades, disaster preparedness enhancements, and improvements in essential infrastructure related to fire services, healthcare, and forestry are integral to the development roadmap.

Moreover, the government is committed to bolstering educational infrastructure by initiating the construction of hostels and computer labs in 20 model degree colleges across Uttarakhand. Healthcare facilities will also see substantial improvements with the establishment of a 100-bedded sub-district hospital in Someshwar, Almora, and a 50-bedded hospital block in Champawat. Additionally, sports enthusiasts can look forward to the development of an Astroturf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium and a Velodrome Stadium at Rudrapur.

The government’s commitment to preserving and enhancing the spiritual and cultural heritage of Uttarakhand is evident through the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission Scheme, which focuses on infrastructure development in temples, including Jageshwar Dham in Almora, Haat Kalika in Pithoragarh, and Naina Devi in Nainital. This multifaceted visit by Prime Minister Modi showcases a holistic approach to upliftment, encompassing spirituality, culture, and robust development for the state of Uttarakhand.
