Reveal Expected at The Game Awards 2025
Insider Gaming’s report indicates that Ubisoft plans to showcase the remake at The Game Awards in December, giving fans their first substantial look at the project since the brief CGI teaser in 2020. Since then, official updates have been minimal, leaving the community uncertain about the game’s future.
But now, the release window has reportedly tightened from Ubisoft’s earlier “fiscal year 2026” timeline to a concrete target: mid January 2026.
A Fresh Start After Early Missteps
The path to this point has been turbulent. The initial version of the remake, developed by other Ubisoft studios, sparked criticism when early gameplay footage was revealed. Fans found the visuals and combat outdated, prompting Ubisoft to overhaul the project entirely.
To revive the remake, Ubisoft shifted development to Ubisoft Montreal the studio behind the original 2003 Prince of Persia trilogy. The team is now rebuilding the game using the Jade engine, aiming to preserve the essence of the beloved classic while upgrading visuals, controls, and combat
