Punjab Police Bust Inter-State Illegal Arms Supply Network, Arrest Two with Weapons
Foreign linked module supplying weapons to Punjab gangs dismantled; 10 pistols recovered
Chandigarh, Mar 26: The Punjab Police on Thursday announced the bust of an inter-state illegal weapons supply module, arresting two individuals from Uttar Pradesh. The Jalandhar counter intelligence wing recovered 10 country-made pistols and 20 magazines from the accused, police officials said.
According to Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police, the arrested individuals were involved in procuring firearms and carrying out a firing incident targeting a travel agent’s residence in Garshankar under the direction of foreign handlers. Preliminary investigation revealed that these handlers, based in Germany and the USA, were supplying weapons to criminal gangs operating in Punjab.
The investigation established strong links between the accused and foreign based criminal networks orchestrating terror and criminal activities in the region. A case has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Police Station in Amritsar.
Further probe is underway to dismantle the entire arms supply network and identify additional operatives connected to the foreign-based syndicate.
