Rahul Gandhi Says Unemployment Major Concern for Youth, Links It to ‘Vote Chori’

Rahul Gandhi Links Rising Unemployment to Alleged Electoral Malpractices, Calls for Youth Action

NEW DELHI, Sept 23: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday highlighted unemployment as the foremost challenge facing India’s youth, claiming it is closely tied to “vote chori” (vote theft). He asserted that as long as elections are manipulated, unemployment and corruption will persist, leaving young people frustrated and disillusioned.

In a post on X in Hindi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha stressed that governments must prioritize creating jobs and opportunities for youth. However, Gandhi alleged that the BJP maintains power through electoral malpractice, resulting in a 45-year high in unemployment.

“That’s why job opportunities are shrinking, recruitment processes are failing, and youth futures are at risk. Every exam paper leak and recruitment scandal points to deep-rooted corruption,” he said.

Gandhi further criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of focusing on PR campaigns, celebrity endorsements, and billionaire profits, rather than addressing youth employment concerns.

He warned that India’s youth will no longer tolerate “job theft” or “vote theft,” urging them to recognize that the fight for employment is intrinsically linked to the fight for fair elections. “The ultimate patriotism now lies in freeing India from unemployment and vote theft,” he stated.

To emphasize his point, Gandhi shared a split-screen video showing police action against protesting students seeking jobs on one side, and Prime Minister Modi engaged in symbolic activities like planting saplings and practising yoga on the other.

This statement comes amid rising youth unrest over job shortages and exam irregularities, making employment a central issue in India’s political discourse.
