Rahul Gandhi Set to Join Congress Working Committee Meeting in Patna
CWC meet in Patna sets stage for Congress strategy ahead of Bihar Assembly polls
Patna, Sept 24: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will attend the party’s Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna on Wednesday, a politically significant gathering ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections slated for late 2025.
Several senior Congress leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Bhupesh Baghel, Randeep Surjewala, and Kanhaiya Kumar, have already arrived in Patna for the meeting of the party’s top decision-making body. The CWC meeting will take place at Sadaqat Ashram, the Congress headquarters in Bihar.
The timing and venue are being viewed as crucial, given Bihar’s historic role in shaping India’s political narrative and its importance in upcoming elections. Congress leaders emphasized that the meeting under the leadership of party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi would focus on ideological clarity and election strategy.
Randeep Surjewala highlighted Bihar’s history, saying the state had always been at the forefront of major political shifts, from the Champaran Satyagraha to present times. Bhupesh Baghel, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s earlier remarks, likened the caste census and the issue of “vote theft” to “an atomic bomb,” hinting at more aggressive steps ahead.
Kanhaiya Kumar sharpened the attack on the ruling coalition in Bihar, alleging that a government formed through “vote theft” fuels corruption, paper leaks, unemployment, and migration. “Fighting against vote theft means saving democracy,” he asserted.
The meeting is expected to chalk out Congress’ roadmap for Bihar, with discussions centered around caste census, electoral preparedness, and broader Opposition unity.
