Rahul Gandhi Slams Amit Shah, Claims He Appeared Nervous with Trembling Hands

Heated exchange in Parliament over election reforms; BJP hits back at Congress ‘hit and run’ tactics

New Delhi, Dec 11 : Tensions escalated in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday as Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi continued his attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the debate on election reforms. Gandhi claimed Shah appeared visibly nervous during his speech, alleging, “Amit Shah ji was very nervous yesterday. He used the wrong language, his hands were trembling… He is under tremendous mental pressure. Everybody saw this yesterday. What I asked him, he did not answer directly. He gave no proof. I have directly challenged him to come on the ground and let us discuss all my press conferences in the Parliament. I got no answer.”

Congress MP Tanuj Punia echoed Gandhi’s criticism, saying, “The transparency that should have been there was not visible. What happened in Haryana, he did not answer the real questions, but instead accused the Congress. No answer was received for what is happening today.”

The BJP, however, hit back at the Congress, accusing Gandhi of employing ‘hit-and-run’ tactics. Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, “Rahul Gandhi adopts a hit-and-run formula… When the Prime Minister and the Home Minister speak, he walks out. He doesn’t have the strength to listen to the truth. He felt bad after hearing what the Union Home Minister said yesterday. I believe that Rahul Gandhi will have to give up this habit… The entire Nehru family was thrown into disarray by the Home Minister’s speech.”

The heated exchange began over allegations of “vote chori” and electoral irregularities. Gandhi repeatedly challenged Shah to debate the issues raised in his press conferences, while Shah insisted that Parliament would function as per its procedures and defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists as a necessary step to “sanitise” electoral rolls. He also accused the Opposition of double standards, praising the Election Commission when it suited them and attacking it when it did not.

The confrontation ended with Opposition MPs walking out during Shah’s reply, prompting the Lok Sabha to adjourn.
