New Delhi, March 3: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Modi government, accusing it of widespread economic mismanagement, rising unemployment, and inflation. In a social media post, he asserted that the only things “manufactured in bulk” under the current administration were “economic failure, unemployment, inflation, and lies.”
Gandhi’s remarks come amid growing concerns over India’s economic trajectory, with critics pointing to high inflation, job losses, and corporate monopolization. He called for urgent policy changes, including the removal of “unjust” taxes, breaking corporate monopolies, and ensuring financial accessibility for businesses and talented individuals.
“If the economy is to be rebuilt and India strengthened, we must eliminate unjust taxation, break monopolies, open banking doors to entrepreneurs, and give power back to skilled professionals,” Gandhi wrote in Hindi on Facebook.
The Congress party has been consistently targeting the government over its economic policies, arguing that rising prices, falling private investment, and stagnant wages have burdened ordinary citizens. On Friday, the party flagged concerns over declining rural consumption and widening economic inequality, emphasizing the need for a shift from crony capitalism to grassroots empowerment.
The opposition has also urged the government to focus on boosting rural incomes and social welfare measures, claiming that current policies disproportionately favor large corporate entities while neglecting small businesses and the working class.
