Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Slams BJP, Calls ED Raids a Form of Unleashed Terror in the Country

Ashok Gehlot Accuses BJP of Targeting Him Through ED Raids and Expresses Confidence in Congress Victory

26-10-2023 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the BJP and expressed concern over the recent actions by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which summoned his son Vaibhav and conducted raids at the premises of Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra. Gehlot accused the BJP of unleashing terror in the country and suggested that ED raids often take place just before elections in different states, including Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh. He noted that despite these raids, the Congress has won elections, emphasizing that the situation is worrisome.

Gehlot further stated that the BJP is targeting him through ED raids because they couldn’t topple his government, but he remained confident that the Congress would win the upcoming election. He pointed out that data indicates a significant increase in ED raids and charge sheets filed after 2014, with 3,010 raids and 881 cases filed compared to 112 searches and 104 cases during the ten years of UPA rule.

During the press conference, the Congress state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and state ministers Mahesh Joshi and Pratap Singh Khachariyawas were also present.

The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at the residences of Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra and Omprakash Hudla, a Congress candidate, as part of a money laundering investigation related to an alleged exam paper leak case in the state, which is heading for elections. Additionally, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot has been summoned for questioning in a case involving alleged contravention of foreign exchange laws. In response to the raids, Congress workers staged protests in Sikar and Jaipur, raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
