Rajnath Singh on Operation Sindoor: India Proved the Strength of Its Retaliation

Defence Minister says Pahalgam attack response showcased India’s decisive retaliation and armed forces’ coordination.

New Delhi, Sept 19: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s decisive retaliatory power in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. Interacting with a group of 1965 war veterans, Singh emphasized that the courage and coordination of the armed forces had turned victory into a “habit” for the nation.

“We launched Operation Sindoor and showed the enemy just how strong our retaliation can be. The coordination and courage with which our team worked has proven that victory is no longer an exception for us. Victory has become our habit,” Singh said.

He recalled the government’s determination to punish those responsible for the May 7 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people. The counter-offensive, launched in Pakistan-controlled territories, targeted terrorist infrastructure and triggered four days of intense clashes before concluding on May 10.

“Our prime minister resolved that this time terrorists would be taught such a lesson they would never have imagined. The incident shook us to the core but could not break our morale,” Singh added.

The Defence Minister also reflected on India’s post-Independence challenges with its neighbors, saying the country has never accepted difficulties as fate but shaped its destiny with resilience and strength.
