Rajnath Singh Predicts NDA Will Secure Two-Thirds Majority in Bihar Elections

Defence Minister credits NDA’s governance and Nitish Kumar’s development record for anticipated electoral success.

Patna (Bihar) [India], November 5 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to form the Bihar government once again with a two thirds majority.

Addressing reporters in Patna, Singh said, “It is clear that the NDA is going to form the government here with a two-thirds majority. The people of Bihar have made up their minds, recognizing how Nitish Kumar has accelerated development over the last twenty years. If anyone can enhance Bihar’s reputation both nationally and internationally, it is the NDA government.”

Singh also criticised previous governments led by the RJD and Congress, alleging a persistent gap between their promises and actions. “This discrepancy created a crisis of trust among Bihar’s citizens. The NDA government will restore confidence and continue the path of progress,” he added.

Praising the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh highlighted India’s rapid growth. “India has reached the fourth spot among the world’s economies, and major international financial firms predict that this progress is unstoppable. India is on track to soon become the third-largest economy globally.”

Voting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, covering 121 constituencies, is scheduled for November 6, while the remaining 122 constituencies will vote in the second phase on November 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14.

The main contest in the 2025 Bihar elections is between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. The NDA comprises the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), HindustAwam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The Mahagathbandhan, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal, includes the Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
