Rajpal Yadav’s Film Fees Under Spotlight Amid Rs 9 Crore Cheque Bounce Case

Rajpal Yadav’s Film Fees in Spotlight Amid Rs 9 Crore Legal Trouble

Mumbai, Feb 24 : Actor Rajpal Yadav has been making headlines over a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce matter, with proceedings currently underway in the Delhi High Court. The court had directed him to surrender at Tihar Jail after he allegedly failed to repay a loan taken in 2010. He is presently out on interim bail to attend a family wedding, and the next hearing is scheduled for March 18, 2026.

Earnings From Recent Big Films

Amid the ongoing case, reports suggest the comedian-actor earned approximately Rs 7–8 crore from his last five major projects.

He reportedly received:

Around Rs 1 crore for Baby John starring Varun Dhawan

Between Rs 2–3 crore for reprising Chhote Pandit in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

Nearly Rs 2 crore for Chandu Champion featuring Kartik Aaryan

Rs 1 crore for Dream Girl 2 alongside Ayushmann Khurrana

Rs 1 crore for the OTT release Kathal

Background of the Dispute

The controversy traces back to a Rs 5 crore loan reportedly taken for his directorial venture Ata Pataa Laapata. Released in 2012, the film underperformed at the box office, making repayment difficult. Over time, accumulated interest and bounced cheques escalated the outstanding amount to nearly Rs 9 crore.

Earlier this month, the actor surrendered before being granted interim relief. Several members of the film fraternity are said to have extended support during this period. After securing bail, he publicly expressed gratitude to well wishers.

Upcoming Projects

Despite the legal setback, Yadav continues to stay professionally active. He has reportedly begun shooting for Welcome to the Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan. He is also set to appear in Bhooth Bangla, headlined by Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, slated for release in April 2026. Additionally, he will feature in another Priyadarshan project starring Pankaj Tripathi.
