Rajya Sabha Adjourned Until March 9
Three-week recess allows parliamentary standing committees to scrutinize 2026-27 Union Budget allocations.
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned on Friday until March 9, as Parliament entered a three-week recess to enable standing committees to examine the Union Budget proposals in detail.
The Upper House convened for Zero Hour at 11 am and concluded its scheduled Question Hour by 1 pm before adjourning. Earlier, Lok Sabha proceedings were also suspended until March 9.
The current Budget Session commenced on January 28 with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of both Houses. During the recess, parliamentary committees will review the allocations provided to various central ministries in the Union Budget.
Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the 2026-27 financial year on February 1, outlining key fiscal allocations and policy priorities. The adjournment provides committees sufficient time for detailed scrutiny and reporting ahead of the resumption of House proceedings.
