Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma Backs Union Budget, Highlights Key Initiatives
MP highlights infrastructure, Make in India growth, and reform driven economic achievements
Chandigarh, Feb 12 : Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma on Wednesday strongly defended the Union Budget 2026-27, portraying it as a strategic blueprint for Viksit Bharat 2047 rather than a routine fiscal exercise.
Opening with the lines, “Nazar ko badlo to nazare badal jaate hain, soch ko badlo to sitare badal jaate hain,” Sharma described Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s ninth budget as a milestone in India’s economic trajectory.
Sharma highlighted India’s rapid rise on the global stage, noting that in just 12 years, the country became the world’s 4th largest economy and is projected to become the 3rd largest. “This growth is a result of reform-driven governance, not chance,” he asserted.
He emphasised infrastructure development as a key driver of economic transformation, pointing out that highway construction speed increased from 12 km per day in 2014 to 34 km per day today. “These are not just roads—they are the economic arteries of a Viksit Bharat,” Sharma remarked.
Addressing criticism of the Make in India initiative, he cited electronics manufacturing growth from ₹1.9 lakh crore in 2014 to ₹10 lakh crore at present, underscoring the government’s focus on boosting domestic production and self-reliance.
