Srinagar, December 19, 2024: Rakesh Kumar Koul, a prominent social activist and former Sarpanch, visited Panchayat Halqa Brah A to evaluate the progress of various development projects under the CAPEX budget and MGNREGA schemes for the financial year 2024-25. His visit focused on reviewing initiatives aimed at enhancing the region’s infrastructure and promoting sustainable development.
During the visit, Mr. Koul inspected the construction of new tile paths in Gouripura and Khaldar, which are expected to improve connectivity for residents. He also reviewed the progress of protective bands in Batpura and other locations, funded under the CAPEX budget. The fencing of community graveyards was another significant development aimed at improving hygiene and safety standards.
Efforts to generate rural employment through the MGNREGA scheme were also assessed, with a focus on irrigation land enhancement across multiple wards. Construction of drainage systems and culverts in Rajward and Dowadpura was underway to address waterlogging issues, ensuring better water management for the local population. Additionally, renewable energy initiatives, such as installing solar lights in key areas, were observed as measures to enhance public safety and support sustainable energy use.
Throughout the inspection, Mr. Koul interacted with local residents to emphasize the importance of transparency and accountability in implementing development projects.
