Rani Mukerji Rules Out Directing for Now: “I’m Happy Focusing on Acting”
Bollywood star Rani Mukerji prioritizes acting over directing as she gears up for Mardaani 3
Bollywood veteran Rani Mukerji, known for her powerful performances across genres, says she is currently content focusing on acting and has no immediate plans to direct films. Speaking to ANI, she remarked, “Never say never. I know when I will be ready to direct. Right now, I am very happy being an actor and being directed.”
Born into a film family, Rani’s father, Ram Mukherjee, was a respected director, and she began her acting career as a teenager. Over three decades, she has earned acclaim for her versatility, effortlessly moving from intense dramas to lighthearted romances. She calls herself a “student of cinema,” constantly learning from directors, co-actors, and real life experiences to enrich her craft.
While the idea of directing remains a possibility in the future, Rani’s present focus is on delivering memorable performances. Fans can look forward to her reprising the role of police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in the upcoming thriller Mardaani 3, directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by her husband, filmmaker Aditya Chopra. The film is slated for release on February 27, 2026.
