New Delhi, Dec 12 : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has opened applications for its prestigious Summer Internship Programme 2026, offering students an opportunity to gain first hand exposure to the operations of India’s central bank. The application window closes on December 15, 2025.
The internship provides immersive experience in economic, financial, regulatory, and policy research under expert guidance. It is open to students in the penultimate year of postgraduate programs, integrated five-year courses, or professional bachelor’s degrees in disciplines such as Economics, Finance, Management, Statistics, Commerce, Banking, Econometrics, Law, and related fields from recognised Indian universities or institutions.
Internship Duration and Selection:
The programme typically spans up to three months between April and July 2026, with dates varying based on departmental requirements. Shortlisting and interviews will take place between January and February, with final selections communicated by February–March. RBI selects up to 125 interns annually based on application review and interviews.

Interns are usually placed in a Control Office aligned with their state of study.
Roles and Benefits:
Selected interns contribute to real time projects across banking regulation, monetary policy, financial stability, compliance, data analytics, and economic studies.
Stipend: Rs 20,000 per month
Travel reimbursement: AC II-Tier return rail fare for outstation interns
Confidentiality: Interns must sign a declaration of secrecy due to access to sensitive information.
