Resignation of Dr. Karan Singh from the Executive Committee of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee

JAMMU, October 23: Dr. Karan Singh, a seasoned Congress leader, has tendered his resignation as a Member of the Executive Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC). According to sources within the party, Dr. Karan Singh conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President, Mallikarjun Kharge. In this letter, Dr. Karan Singh humbly requested that his name be removed from the 22-member Executive Committee of the Congress party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit, citing his lack of involvement in the Union Territory’s political affairs over the past several years.

This development transpired after Mallikarjun Kharge, the AICC President, officially approved the formation of the committee on October 19, which included eminent figures such as Dr. Karan Singh and Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz, alongside distinguished party members like Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Tariq Hameed Karra, Tara Chand, and several others.

In his letter, Dr. Karan Singh expressed his awareness that his name had been included in the Executive Committee of the recently reconstituted Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee. He candidly acknowledged that he had not actively participated in the political landscape of the Union Territory for a substantial period. Consequently, he earnestly requested the removal of his name from the list of committee members.
