Jammu, March 8: Marking the celebration of International Women’s Day, Ritika Trehan, Convenor of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Campaign for J&K UT, organised a highly impressive and well-attended programme at Village Phinder, Tehsil R.S. Pura today. The event was aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, recognising the remarkable achievements of women from different walks of life, and encouraging greater participation of women in social and economic development.
The programme was hosted by Ritika Trehan accompanied by Praveen Kumari, Convener of Bishnah, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from women and local residents of the area. The event was meticulously organised, reflecting the commitment of the BBBP campaign towards spreading awareness about the importance of educating and empowering girls and women in society. In a warm gesture of hospitality, snacks and lunch were also arranged for all the attendees, adding to the spirit of celebration and community bonding on the special occasion.
During the programme, the BBBP team felicitated several inspiring women achievers who have made notable contributions in their respective fields. Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Former Joint Director of the Tourism Department, SDM Akhnoor, and Secretary of Jammu Municipality, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the significance of women’s education, self-reliance, and leadership in shaping a progressive society. She remarked that empowering women is not merely a slogan but a crucial step towards building a stronger and more inclusive nation.
The event was further dignified by the presence of Guests of Honour, including Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, Dean Academic Affairs at Cluster University of Jammu, and Neetu Kaur Bali, Founder of Sundar Gems & Jewels, Sundar House of Luxury, and Sundar Enterprises. Both speakers applauded the initiative taken by Ritika Trehan and encouraged women to pursue their ambitions with confidence, determination, and resilience.
On this occasion, several outstanding achievers were honoured for their exemplary work and dedication. Among those felicitated were Satvika Gandotra, Proprietor of Saltea Studio, a creative designer and social media content creator; Gehna Agarwal and Kangna Agarwal, homemakers and creators of organic products who have been promoting healthy and sustainable living; and Mona Abrol, Proprietor of Memorable Trips, a successful holiday planner and visa expert. Their achievements were widely appreciated as inspiring examples of women’s talent, entrepreneurship, and determination.
Speakers during the event emphasised the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for women in education, healthcare, and economic participation. They stressed that the progress of society is closely linked with the empowerment and upliftment of women and that collective efforts are required to ensure dignity, respect, and opportunities for every girl and woman.
The programme was attended by several prominent personalities including DDC Member Vidhya Motten, Kissan Advisory Board Member and Former Sarpanch Balbeer Kour, Co-Convener Vijay Chib, and Champa Devi, along with a large number of women and residents from Phinder and nearby areas.
