RSS-BJP to Organize Grand Hindu Convention in Lucknow, Position Yogi Adityanath as Hindutva Face Ahead of 2027 Polls
Ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP and RSS strategize to strengthen Hindutva unity and consolidate support for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
India, Dec 02 : In preparation for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), along with the Yogi Adityanath led state government, are finalizing plans for a major Hindu convention in Lucknow. The event, slated to coincide with the RSS centenary celebrations, aims to present Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as the prominent face of Hindutva.
According to a senior state BJP leader, discussions about the convention took place during a coordination meeting between the BJP and RSS on Monday evening. The meeting also focused on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), addressing the need to engage MLAs who have shown limited interest and activating party, government, and RSS personnel at the district level. Ministers in charge of various departments will conduct follow-up meetings with RSS officials to ensure effective implementation.
Preliminary discussions at the meeting also explored potential changes in the government and party structure, including the appointment of a new state BJP president, expected before December 14, while a cabinet expansion is likely after Makar Sankranti (January 14, 2026).
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s residence, was attended by RSS Co-Sarkaryavah Arun Kumar, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, State BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary, and other senior RSS and BJP officials. Prior to this, Arun Kumar and BL Santhosh had conducted consultations at Bharti Bhawan, gathering feedback on the political and organisational situation in Uttar Pradesh.
The discussions covered key topics including branch expansion, volunteer mobilization, and fostering social harmony, along with feedback from the Sangh’s labour, education, and business wings. Analysts note that these coordination meetings reflect the BJP-RSS strategy to strengthen grassroots engagement and consolidate Hindutva support ahead of the 2027 polls.
Long-standing and experienced party workers may also be considered for positions in corporations, commissions, and boards as part of broader organisational realignment. With the Hindu convention and ongoing political preparation, the BJP and RSS are aiming to present a unified front and enhance the Chief Minister’s profile as the central Hindutva leader in Uttar Pradesh.
