RSS Launches Dhwaj Yatra, Releases ‘Shatak’ to Counter Misgivings About Organization

Nationwide campaign aims to counter misconceptions and highlight RSS’s historical and cultural role

New Delhi, Feb 21 : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has kicked off a nationwide ‘Dhwaj Yatra’, stretching from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, aimed at addressing what the organisation describes as misconceptions about its history and ideology.

The campaign coincides with the centenary of the RSS, marked by the release of a commemorative film, Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh, on February 20, 2026. Produced by Vir Kapur and co-produced by Pavan Sindhi, the film is directed by Aashish Mall and traces the organisation’s 100-year journey, paying tribute to volunteers who have contributed over the decades.

A teaser highlights the RSS’s evolution, internal discipline, and its role in India’s social and cultural landscape. The soundtrack features songs like “Bharat Maa Ke Bacche” and “Bhagwa Hai Meri Identity”.

Organisers said the yatra and film form part of a broader initiative to present the RSS’s “true history.” Veer Kapoor, a participant, stated, “The aim of this yatra is to clear the misgivings that the RSS is against some people. We also want to convey the real history to people, who have been fed the distorted version so far.”

At a recent launch event, senior officials from the RSS Gujarat chapter and other guests formally unveiled the film, encouraging viewers to watch it in cinemas as a message promoting unity and national integrity.

The Dhwaj Yatra and the release of Shatak are intended to highlight the RSS’s contribution to India’s socio-political history and reinforce its role in contemporary public life.
