RSS Prayer Symbolises Collective Devotion and Commitment to the Nation: Mohan Bhagwat

NAGPUR, SEPTEMBER 27: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday described the organisation’s iconic prarthana (prayer) as a profound expression of devotion and collective resolve towards the nation and the divine. Speaking at a special event in Nagpur to launch a newly recorded version of the prayer, Bhagwat said it represents the unwavering dedication of swayamsevaks to Bharat Mata and their shared commitment to serving the motherland with sincerity and selflessness.

The RSS chief unveiled the audio version of the prayer, rendered by noted singer Shankar Mahadevan, with Hindi narration by veteran voice artist Harish Bhimani and Marathi narration by acclaimed actor Sachin Khedekar. He expressed confidence that the new version will help the prayer reach a much wider audience, deepening public understanding of the Sangh’s ethos and ideals.

Describing the prayer as more than just a recitation, Bhagwat said it embodies the spirit of national service and the aspiration to contribute to the country’s progress. “It is an expression of our devotion, love, and dedication towards Bharat Mata. Through this prayer, we ask ourselves what we can offer to our country and seek divine strength to serve her better,” he said.

Bhagwat emphasized that the prarthana is not merely symbolic but a unifying force that binds swayamsevaks together in a shared mission. It reflects their pledge to uphold values, strengthen the nation, and contribute meaningfully to society. “The prayer is an emotion that inspires us to dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to the service of the nation. It reminds us that our love for Bharat Mata must always translate into concrete action,” he added.

The RSS chief also noted that the release of the audio version will allow people beyond the organisation to connect with the deeper meaning and emotion behind the prayer. He said it is not just for swayamsevaks but for anyone who shares a deep sense of patriotism and commitment to the nation’s well-being.

Founded in 1925, the RSS regards its daily prarthana as an integral part of its organisational discipline and cultural ethos. Recited at every shakha (local unit), the prayer encapsulates the Sangh’s ideals of service, unity, strength, and devotion to the motherland. Bhagwat reiterated that such practices aim to nurture a spirit of nation-first thinking and encourage individuals to place collective welfare above personal interest.
