Sambhal Violence Now History, Situation Fully Normal: Jama Masjid Chief Amid Tight Security

Community Leaders, Residents Say Peace Restored; Security Heightened Across District

Sambhal, Nov 24: One year after violence broke out during the Jama Masjid survey on November 24, 2024, Sambhal has returned to peace and stability. Zafar Ali, President of Sambhal Jama Masjid, said on Monday that last year’s unrest is now “a thing of the past” and that normalcy prevails across the city.

Speaking to IANS, Zafar Ali said, “The incident of 24 November 2024 was unfortunate, but it is now a thing of the past. One year later, the city is completely normal. We have not issued any special instructions regarding namaz or any other arrangements. Everything will continue as usual. Hindus and Muslims are living together peacefully.”

He added that security forces remain active in the locality and are working effectively to maintain order. “There are no changes in namaz proceedings. I urge my brothers to maintain peace and unity,” he said.

Residents echoed similar views, praising the administration for ensuring a peaceful environment over the past year.
One resident said, “Sambhal has never received such administration before. The way they handled the situation, the city was saved from a major tragedy.” Another added, “Security forces are deployed everywhere, and people feel safe.”

Tight Security on First Anniversary

To mark the first anniversary of the unrest, authorities have tightened security across Sambhal district. Police remain on high alert with additional forces deployed in sensitive zones.

A multi-layered security plan has been implemented, including increased patrolling by RAF teams, PAC personnel, and local police. Area domination has been intensified around the Jama Masjid, and extra manpower has been stationed at key locations.

CCTV surveillance has been expanded at the site of last year’s violence and adjoining areas, with live monitoring from the Satyavrat Chowki control room.

Historic Jama Masjid Under Guard

The Jama Masjid in Sambhal, constructed during the reign of Mughal emperor Babur between 1526 and 1530, remains a key heritage and religious site. It is one of only three major mosques built during Babur’s rule, alongside the Panipat mosque and the former Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.

A Year After Unrest, Message of Peace Prevails

As Sambhal marks the first anniversary of the violence, both authorities and community leaders stress peace, harmony, and vigilance to ensure the city continues on its path of stability.
