Satya Kumar Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks Targeting PM Narendra Modi

Health Minister accuses Congress leader of disrespecting national leadership, demands apology amid debate on Women’s Reservation Bill

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent statements in Parliament during discussions on the Women’s Reservation Bill, terming them “irresponsible” and “derogatory.”

Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Vijayawada, the minister alleged that Rahul Gandhi deviated from the core issue of women’s empowerment and instead made remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He specifically objected to Gandhi’s reference to the Prime Minister as a “magician,” stating that such language diminishes the dignity of the country’s highest office.

Yadav further argued that remarks of this nature not only undermine political decorum but also reflect poorly on India’s institutions and armed forces. He stressed that elected representatives must maintain a level of responsibility while speaking in Parliament, especially on sensitive national matters.

Calling for accountability, the minister demanded that Rahul Gandhi withdraw his comments and issue a public apology. He added that such statements indicate “frustration” and raised concerns about Gandhi’s role as a credible opposition leader.

Highlighting the achievements of the central government, Yadav said the administration under Prime Minister Modi has delivered visible development, strengthened internal and external security, and enhanced India’s standing on the global stage. He cited decisive actions related to Pakistan and economic measures like demonetisation as examples of the government’s commitment to national interest.

The minister also turned his criticism toward the Congress party’s past record, referring to major corruption controversies such as the 2G spectrum and coal allocation cases. He accused the party of fostering divisions and failing to ensure transparent governance during its tenure.

Reaffirming the government’s stance on inclusivity, Yadav emphasised that the Centre remains committed to advancing women’s empowerment through legislative measures like the Women’s Reservation Bill. He added that efforts are also being made to ensure fair political representation for southern states, and welcomed support from all parties willing to contribute constructively to these initiatives.

The exchange marks the latest flashpoint in an increasingly heated political environment, with both sides intensifying rhetoric ahead of key legislative developments.
