Jammu, 14.08.22: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations and Youth of NSYF celebrated Aazadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav here at Ambedkar Chowk today evening by hoisting the tricolour and paying a tribute to all those who bought us the freedom.RK Kalsotra, state president confederation, said that this celebration is not because of a state mandated nudge but is a celebration of the efforts of thousands of Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasis and minorities who gave up their lives for our freedom. While paying tribute to all those, he also reminded that the freedom of downtrodden is still not achieved.
He quoted Dr BR Ambedkar and said, “I have no homeland. How can I call this land my own homeland and this religion my own, wherein we are treated worse than cats and dogs, wherein we cannot get water to drink?”
Kalsotra said that the atrocities towards the SC/ST/OBCs and minorities have increased manifolds. The recent death of an 8 year Dalit boy for drinking water from an upper caste person’s pot is just one of the caste discrimination instances. The rights of vulnerable sections are being taken away unconstitutionally, their rights of freedom, equality, fraternity are being shrunken gradually. Moreover, the state is pushing for privatisation of jobs, education, healthcare. This is going to put more burden on not just SC/ST/OBCs but others as well.
Various slogans like “Manubaad se Azadi. Jaat-Paat se Azadi, Unch-Neech se Azadi, ugravaad se Azadi, samvidhan se shed-Shad band kro, Privatisation band kro”were raised by the people who gathered and they promised to keep the spirit of freedom alive while fighting together for the rights of the downtrodden.
Other present who addresses were Bashir Noon, Ramesh Sarmal, Shashi Syal, Tarun Paroch, Mohinder Kumar, Er Sham Bassan, Mohan Lal, Ashraf Ali. Ashok Birpuri, and many others
