Sealing of Jamia Masjid on Shab-e-Barat Unfortunate: CM Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, 13-02-2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday strongly criticized the decision to seal Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid on the sacred night of Shab-e-Barat, calling it “unfortunate” and a sign of distrust in the law and order situation.
Expressing his disappointment on X, CM Omar Abdullah stated, “It is deeply unfortunate that the security establishment has decided to seal the historic Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, on one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar – #ShabEBarat.”
“This move reflects a lack of confidence in the people and the law enforcement agencies, suggesting that peace cannot be maintained without such extreme measures. The people of Srinagar deserved better,” he remarked.
